Material Study: Cork

cork, coffee + wood lamination

Project Overview:

The material study is guided by a trial-based, iterative design approach focused on exploring the combination of cork and adhesives. Additionally, we experimented with incorporating used coffee grounds and investigating their interactions with the material.

Through research into cork's mechanical, physical, and biological properties, we aim to innovate in the materiality and life cycle of cork when combined with a diverse range of self-made, natural, and biodegradable adhesives.
